5S IMPLEMENTATION
A succesful 5S implementation consists of three phases: analysis, implementation and aftercare, upon which assurance then starts. This results in a tight, efficient and safe shop floor. 5S can be applied on every shop floor and within every sector: from waste industry to hospital and everything in between. During the 5S rollout, all the S's from the 5S model are put into practice. These are the steps of the execution phase of the 5S implementation on your workplace.
Assess the 5S level of the shop floor with a 5S audit and verify that 5S has been effectively applied within the organization. Or request a 5S audit to determine the 5S level on your workplace.

1) 5S ANALYSIS
ACQUAINTANCE WITH 5S COMPANY
The 5S model has a fixed structure, but no shop floor is the same. The first step consists of an introduction to the team of 5S company and its services. By starting with the common goal, you come to the best approach for successful implementation of 5s on the shop floor.
GEMBA WALK
Gemba means 'the shop floor'. gemba walk by 5S Company on location. is – loosely translated – ‘round on the shop floor’. After meeting the team, it's time to get to know the gemba well. Processes, tools and even the walking direction are thoroughly analysed. The gemba is where it happens. Applying 5s effectively is only possible if you have experienced the practice of the workplace.
PREPARATION 5S ROLL-OUT BY 5S COMPANY
After the introduction and gemba walk, a planning is made by 5S Company for the 5S roll-out and the organization receives information about what needs to be prepared. All information is processed in the 5S theory training so that the 5S implementation delivers maximum results on the shop floor.
2) 5S OUTPUT
5S ROLL-OUT
On the planned days or evenings together,rolled out 5S on the workplace with a team of our own employees. During the 5S Implementation every S is introduced with a part of 5S theory training, after which it is immediately transferred to the application on the shop floor. The final result is a tight, safe and efficient working environment in which the basis of the lean philosophy is known to the employees and joint agreements have been made.
3) 5S AFTERCARE
5S FOLLOW-UP DAY
Shortly after the roll-out there is a 5S aftercare day. Here we visualize the agreements and plan the external audits. In addition, we configure the 5S app and/or Safety App.
5S AUDITS
The assurance of the results from the 5S roll-out is done, among other things, by means of external 5S audits. In accordance with planning, the external audits are carried out together with an employee (in decreasing frequency). It immediately becomes clear which 5S level the workplace scores at that moment and what actions are for raising this level. These are also 5S coaching moments, where we want to keep motivation on the work floor high.
5S COMPANY PROPOSAL
A second part of taking 5S to the next level is the improvement proposal process. This process is based on our semi-digital 5S boards. The improvement proposal process involves employees in the constant improvement potential in the workplace. Stimulating small steps forward from 5S, this creates the beginning of the kaizen culture.
5S DAY START
In order to determine the common goal, to guarantee 5S quality with the help of 5S Company services, and to keep on top of mind of the employees, it is important to start the day together and to discuss fixed points, including Safety and 5S. Employees are coached in discussing the 5S findings and stimulated in professionalizing the teams.
5S TRAINING
There are several to help employees master the various 5S components 5S training possibilities. These 5S training components are in line with the workplace and the 5S level of the employee. We also have various simulation forms for this to experience the theoretical concepts in practice. Of course, the best experience can be had by training on your own workplace.
PHASE-OUT
After the successful rollout and aftercare together with 5S Company, the basis of 5S on the shop floor will be sufficient and employees can bear 5S independently. If necessary, 5S Company will continue to perform one or more external audits per year. Of course we will always be involved in the support to get 5S to the next level.
